The first leg of the K-1 Max quarter finals took place today in China. Here is Buakaws fight against Chinese fighter Zhou Zhipeng. The fight sounds a little crazy from what I’ve read, the extract below is taken from the Banchamek gym’s Facebook page.
Buakaw got hit in the groin in rounds 2 & 3. At the end of round 3, the judges ruled that it was a tie. Buakaw said that he was unable to walk because it was too painful. There was a break for 5 minutes, & then for another 2 minutes, in order to decide whether or not to continue with the fight. Buakaw said that regardless of whether he would win or lose, he must fight to the very end. He gritted his teeth & continued with round 4. Within the first minute, Buakaw’s Chinese opponent headbutted him, & Buakaw suffered a cut above his left eyebrow that required 4 stitches. Buakaw won in round 4.
